" Excuse me...Miss ??"

" There's some toilet paper stuck to your chunky, incredibly delicious foot "
There's been lots of time spent in the bathroom( Maddy, not me !), unraveling the toilet paper roll...bad for the environment, I know, but good for me; Maddy gets such enjoyment out of it.. she squeals in delight !
Ehh, its maybe one branch of a tree, right?
This summer is so different from last summer. She was so tiny , and I still didn't have my "mommy legs" , and I was pretty much a slave to her schedule. There is so much to do and some many places to go with a 17 month old ! We've been to the beach, to the bookstore, to the park... you get the idea. But where she really loves to be is in our backyard ( well, side yard) with her Elmo sprinkler. Disclaimer; you can not actually see the elmo sprinkler b/c as I was taking this picture, ideas were forming in her head about running away... see ?
And then I started hearing thunder, so we went inside. Enjoy your weekends , everyone !

"a wuh ? "

That is how Miss Maddy responds when I ask her if she wants to take a walk " a wuh?' as she runs over to the door. Once we're out , she says " bur? bur?" ( for birds) and says " Hi Hi " when she sees some. She gets upset when they fly away, poor baby. Here she is , saying hi to some birds in a tree. Now that it is hot here, she loves sitting the stroller as I take her through people's sprinklers. We don't have much of a backyard, so I usually take her to the school up the block and let her run around. I took these shots today.
The shirt says " Just When You Thought I Couldn't Get Any Cuter..."

The Beach

Sarasota has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Maddy made her inaugural trip to the beach on Father's Day. I thought I'd be running after her the whole time, or extracting sand from her mouth, but she was pretty good. She was content playing with her sand toys. She was not too fond of the waves , but she'll get there. Hopefully she will love the beach as much as I do.
And here's a favorite of mine.. Maddy and her daddy, Father's Day 2007.

Vacation

I'm trying a new format here, so I hope it works.

We were away for a week in Sunny Florida, visiting Maddy's grandparents. She was so good, despite the Everlasting Teething. She was good on the plane, even slept for a bit. I bought her some Magic Color markers, but she preferred eating them rather than actually coloring with them.

She has become quite independant. She does not want to be held if she can walk; does not want to be fed if she can feed herself; does not want to be in a stroller if she can roam free; and does not want to slow down when she can go fast. She's also quite the Dancin' Machine.

She had mixed emotions about the pool. One day she loved being in her floaty thing, The next, not so much....
One thing that remained consistant each day was her desire to drink the pool water. Yuck. We bought her a little froggy pool that has a little sprinkler on it, and she enjoyed that as well.

We taught her how to sing Happy Birthday... she says " Hah- pee buh". And get a load of her and her balloon. I'd kind of been avoiding purchasing balloons for her because I thought she'd freak everytime we went to the grocery store . Grandma bought it for her, and all my trips to the grocery store have been complete with squealing screeching and general clamoring for a balloon now. Whoever thought of putting balloons by the checkout is an evil genius.

Look at the pure joy on her face. Its worth the $2.50 !

Ahhhh, vacation....

trying somethign out

Progression of the Swing

Excited, hhhm this is fun, Oh boy- REALLY fun , Super fun,.. .and I'm done. Take me down now , please.

Madeline had a wonderful time at her cousin's jacks' 2nd birthday party. The theme was bubbles, right up Maddy's alley. She was so excited to have unfettered access to a huge backyard. Our 'backyard' is actually our unfenced front yard, and she can only go a few steps before I have to reroute her. Bummer for a baby. Hopefully, that situation will be rectifid in a few months :)
She is cracking me up everyday now.

Summertime Fun and a Box o' Cheerios

A few more from the other day when it was about 5000 degrees outside. I fill her little bucket with water and she loves it.
Like most toddlers , Maddy is obsessed with Cheerios. We but the humongo box that can feed a small nation. We ran out the other day and I put the box next to the garbage b/c I didn't have time to rip it up ( oops, I mean recycle it). Since 'round the garbage has been deemed The Most Spectacular Place in the House by Maddy, she got a hold of the box and would not let go. She makes the sign for 'more" ( well, its a modified sign, but I know what she means), but to do it, she had to put the box down. Then mid-signing, she'd realize she no longer had the box in her hand and went to pick it up... and tried to sign 'more' again. I let it go on longer than I should have. It was fun to see her wheels turning... and finally she just screamed and flung herself on the ground. You know, a toddlers way of saying' Might I possibly have some Cheerios , mom ?"

...I see you !

I really wish I could have gotten this shot without the red spot in the corner. This was taken at Maddy's cousin's house, in the Bounce House. Madeline wasn't quite sure what to make of it at first, but after a few minutes she decided she liked it. Look at the expression on her face. I love it !

Anxiuosly awaiting her fourth tooth. She was miserable yesterday- screaming, crying, not sleeping and generally just being mushy. I didn't see any new arrivals yet however.

Enjoy your weekend !
